Snapshots in PowerFlex are consistent images in the form of storage volumes that are used to capture the state of source volumes at a specific point in time. Since snapshot target volumes are just like any other PowerFlex volume, they can be mapped to an SDC component, renamed, resized, and so on.
This section provides detailed instructions on how to mount a snapshot of a production volume to another environment for development or testing purposes.
From MariaDB Server 10.4.1 release onwards, BACKUP STAGE commands have been introduced to facilitate the creation of database copies by taking snapshots of a file system, SAN, or some other kind of storage device. These commands are run to ensure that all non-transactional tables are properly quiesced (flushed to the disk) before the snapshot is created. For more information, see MariaDB Documentation.
