Dell Technologies has introduced several industrial gateways that collect data from edge endpoints and provide connectivity to edge, core, and cloud infrastructure. They connect IT and OT environments and provide intelligence, security, and device management at the edge, enabling actionable insights. Based on the model, Dell Edge Gateways come factory-configured with a specific operating system, or they allow customer-configurable OS environments to enable support for several different edge applications. Designed in a rugged, stackable, rack-mountable and fanless design, the Dell Edge Gateways are compact and robust enough to endure 24/7/365 operations. The modular designs of these gateways support multiple options for connectivity and storage. With available resources and configuration options, these gateways support bare metal and containerized applications.
This Dell Validated Design supports the following Dell Edge Gateways:
- Dell EMC Edge Gateway 3200
- The Dell EMC Edge Gateway 3200 is a compact, fanless, and ruggedized gateway with an Intel Atom processor. The EGW-3200 is built to withstand harsh environments, provide stable and efficient connections in different IoT scenarios, and can fulfill real-time computing demand with a lower entry point. It offers a multicore CPU with up to 32 GB of memory, and it includes multiple ports, including serial. The gateway features WiFi, 4G or 5G, and traditional Ethernet connectivity, which are all characteristic of manufacturing environments.
- The EGW-3200 comes factory configured with two OS options (Windows 10 IoT or Ubuntu). It can support deployment of Telit deviceWISE Asset and Enterprise Gateway, and XMPro Stream Host for secured, far edge deployments. The EGW-3200 allows northbound connectivity to both edge and core deployments, with a broad range of industrial protocols.
- The EGW-3200 withstands temperatures ranging from –20°C to 60°C for 24/7 operations.

- Dell EMC Edge Gateway 5200
- The Dell EMC Edge Gateway 5200 is a compact, fanless, and ruggedized gateway with 9th Gen Intel Core processor and SSD drive compatibility. The EGW-5200 is built to withstand harsh environments to provide performance at the edge to support sizeable workloads. It offers a multicore CPU with up to 64 GB of memory, multiple ports with WiFi, 4G or 5G, and Ethernet connectivity. If offers a greater number of cores, memory, and ports for higher performance and connectivity options.
- The EGW-5200 includes ports with connections to RS-422/485, RS-232, Canbus (by way of expansion module), 4G, 5G, and Gigabit Ethernet ports. This allows the EGW-5200 to support a wide array of different physical connections which are often characteristic in manufacturing environments.
- The EGW-5200 is tested for MIL-810G standards and withstands temperatures ranging from 0°C to 60°C. Refer to the EGW-3200/EGW-5200 Spec Sheet for additional information about the gateways' specifications.
- The EGW-5200 comes factory configured with two OS options (Windows 10 IoT or Ubuntu). It can support deployment of Telit deviceWISE Asset and Enterprise Gateway, and XMPro Stream Host for secured, far edge deployments of these applications for higher performance.
