Azure node discovery is a key feature for deployment that requires switch support for Multicast Listener Discovery Protocol (MLD). IPv6 networks use (MLD) Protocol to manage multicast groups. The Top-of-Rack switches directly connected to Azure nodes use MLD to manage the multicast group memberships on IPv6 networks. MLD snooping enables switches to use the information in MLD packets and generate a forwarding table that associates ports with multicast groups. When switches receive multicast frames, the switches forward the frames to their intended receivers. Dell Top-of-Rack switches have MLD snooping enabled by default.
