The Commvault DD Boost Storage Library feature is now available in two different ways:
Starting with Commvault PR 11.30.44 and DDOS 7.8, we can now create a DD Boost Access Library and use it to back up data from a client to DD using Media Agent.
After taking care of all prerequisites for configuring a Commvault DD Boost Storage Library, create a Media direct DD Boost Access Library:
The Add DD Boost Storage dialog box is displayed.
The new Media Direct DD Boost Storage Library appears in the CommCell Browser under Storage Resources > Libraries.
Note: For more information about the Commvault DD Boost Storage Library feature, including configuring a DD Boost Storage Library and best practices, see Commvault Data Domain Boost Storage Library in the Commvault documentation.
Starting with Commvault FR 11.32.35 and DDOS 7.8, we can now a create DD Boost Client Library and use it to back up data from a client directly to DD.
After taking care of all prerequisites for configuring a Commvault DD Boost Storage Library, create a Client Direct DD Boost Client Library:
The Add DD Boost Storage dialog box is displayed.
The new Client Direct DD Boost Storage Library appears in the CommCell Browser under Storage Resources > Libraries.
Notes:
1) CV side deduplication is disabled by default during a Client Direct backup.
2) It is recommended to use DD appliance deduplication and encryption during a Client Direct backup.
3) When using Client Direct backup, it is recommended to disable CV Compression.
