Home > Data Protection > PowerProtect Data Manager > Dell PowerProtect Data Manager: Protecting Kubernetes Workloads > Protect multiple PVCs concurrently in a namespace
From PowerProtect Data Manager UI, you can set controller configuration parameter “k8s.ppdm.enable.parallel.pvc.backup” to true. This configuration will enable concurrent PVC backups in a namespace. This feature is not enabled by default.
When “k8s.ppdm.enable.parallel.pvc.backup” is set to true, up to 5 PVCs will be backed up in parallel per namespace. For example, if “ppdm.backup.concurrency” is set to the default value of 5, up to 25 PVCs will be backed up in parallel. The concurrent backup limit for PVCs per cluster is 50.
If parallel PVC backup is enabled with k8s.ppdm.enable.parallel.pvc.backup” setting, in the case of vSphere CSI volumes, one cProxy is started per namespace. For non-vSphere CSI volumes, up to five cProxies will be started per namespace.
Note: Increasing this value along with setting “ppdm.backup.concurrency” increases the load on the Kubernetes cluster. When this feature is enabled for non-vSphere CSI volumes, it may increase the load on back-end storage.
