When the Microsoft application agent is installed on the application host, you can use the Data Manager Appliance UI to add a Microsoft application agent for data protection, approve and reject pending agent requests, and edit and delete existing agents.
After registering an application host with the Data Manager Appliance, the host appears in the Asset Sources window and SQL databases are available as assets in the Infrastructure > Assets section as shown here:
Starting with Data Manager Appliance 5.13.0.0, both centralized and self-service Application Direct operations to protect Microsoft SQL Server 2022 databases are supported. Data Manager Appliance supports the backups and restores of Microsoft SQL Server 2022 databases through the Microsoft application agent, including table-level restores that use ItemPoint
Starting with Data Manager Appliance version 5.16 and later, Microsoft SQL Server self-service backups are supported with a non-administrator account. Data Manager Appliance supports the self-service backups of Microsoft SQL Server data with a service account that has limited non-administrative rights. For more details, see PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance: Microsoft SQL Server User Guide.
