In a two-layer bare-metal environment, the PowerFlex MDM and SDS components are installed on the SO nodes, while the SDC component is installed on CO nodes. The PowerFlex volumes are created over the storage pools. Once an SDC is mapped to a volume, the compute nodes immediately have access to these volumes.
The following table shows the test environment PowerFlex volumes (ASM disks) that we created for Oracle ASM and used to create DATA, REDO, OCR, and MGMT ASM disk groups.
Disk group name | Number of disks x Size of each disk | Total size | Redundancy | AU size | Description |
OCRVOTE | 3 x 64 GB | 192 GB | Normal | 1 MB | OCR and Voting file to store grid infrastructure information. |
MGMT | 1 x 80 GB | 80 GB | External | 1 MB | To store grid management repository |
DATA | 6 x 600 GB | 3.6 TB | External | 1 MB | Database files, system-related tablespaces like SYSTEM, UNDO, TEMPERORY. |
REDO | 4 x 200 GB | 2.4 TB | External | 1 MB | Online redo logfiles.
|
FRA | 2 x 800 GB | 1.6 TB | External | 1 MB | backup and recovery-related files such as archive log, flashback log, backups and so on. |
