This deployment uses a simple single leaf pair and a spine-leaf fabric. The following hardware is used to create the network.
In this deployment, the spine switches are Dell PowerSwitch Z9264F-ON and the leaf switches are Dell S5248F-ON, as shown in the following figures:
This deployment uses three VxRail E665F nodes.
The following figure shows a simple SONiC single leaf pair with a three-node cluster, a single rack setup. This setup is primarily used for testing purposes.
A leaf-spine architecture is highly scalable. For a SONiC Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Ethernet VPN (EVPN) VXLAN multirack setup, as shown in the following figure, the fabric consists of underlay and overlay concepts. The underlay consists of the Layer 3 IP network providing the BGP routes. The overlay consists of the VXLAN, VTEP and VNI components. Each leaf pair uses an MC-LAG port channel. An MC-LAG allows you to create a logical switch in which multiple interfaces on peer switches are bundled.
