SAP HANA is an in-memory data platform that can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. Organizations use the SAP HANA platform to analyze large volumes of data and develop and deploy applications in real time.
Metro node is the new hardware platform for storage virtualization from Dell Technologies. Metro node removes physical barriers in, across, and between data centers and resides between the servers and the physical storage assets. Metro node Local provides simplified management and nondisruptive data mobility across heterogeneous arrays, whereas metro node Metro provides data access and mobility between two metro node clusters within synchronous distances. For more information, see Metro node overview.
SAP has certified Dell metro node systems for use with SAP HANA Tailored Data Center Integration (TDI) deployments combined with a certified SAP HANA TDI enterprise storage system. Customers can use metro node for SAP HANA TDI deployments with their existing data center infrastructure in a fully supported environment.
Dell Technologies engineering performed extensive validation testing on the metro node appliance in accordance with the SAP HANA-HWC-ES-1.1 certification scenario, using the SAP HANA hardware configuration check tool HCMT. The tests validated that metro node meets SAP performance requirements and ensures the highest availability for database persistence on disk.
Note: SAP recommends that TDI customers run the SAP HANA 2.0 HCMT tool in their environment to ensure that their specific SAP HANA TDI implementation meets the SAP performance criteria. See Metro node scalability tests
Customers using SAP HANA TDI with metro node can:
This guide describes a solution that uses SAP HANA in a TDI deployment scenario using metro node systems. The guide provides configuration recommendations for the deployment that are based on SAP high availability (HA) requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs) for data throughput and latency. Topics include:
Note: This design guide describes SAP HANA TDI deployments in physical environments. If you plan to use SAP HANA in virtualized environments on VMware vSphere, see the VMware Virtualized SAP HANA with Dell EMC Storage Deployment Guide.
