Logical topology and Physical layout and wiring show the logical and physical topologies that are validated for the examples in this guide.
Two MX7000 chassis are in the Multi-Chassis Management group. The MX9116n FSEs are connected to MX7116n FEMs. MX9116n FSEs are in a VLTi connected on QSFP28-DD ports 1/1/37 and 1/1/39. The uplinks from MX9116n FSEs are connected to S5232F-ON using ports 1/1/41 and 1/1/42.
Dell EMC PowerSwitch S5232F-ONs are in a VLTi connected on ports 1/1/29 and 1/1/31. Port group breakout is configured on port 1/1/5 (100 GbE) to create 4x 25 GbE ports. The S5232F-ON switch is then connected to three R730xd servers using ports 1/1/5:1, 1/1/5:2, and 1/1/5:3, 25 GbE connections. See Physical layout and wiring for additional details on the physical wiring that is used.
The VLTi connections between the two MX9116n FSEs shown in this diagram require 200 Gbps for VLT to function, if SmartFabric Mode is used.
