The figure below shows an alternate logical topology for a single-chassis environment using two Dell EMC Networking MX5108n Ethernet switches.
Using MX5108n in a single chassis
Two MX5108n I/O modules are connected to the MX740c compute sleds using internal connections. The MX5108n switches are in a VLTi connected on ports 1/1/9 and 1/1/10. Port 1/1/11 is used for uplink and configured for breakout from 100 GbE to 4x 25 GbE. The MX5108n is then connected to the upstream switch S5232F-ON on ports 1/1/11:1 and 1/1/11:2.
Dell EMC PowerSwitch S5232F-ON switches are connected in a VLTi using ports 1/1/29 and 1/1/31. The port group breakout is configured on port 1/1/5 from 100 GbE to 4x 25 GbE. The S5232F-ON switch is then connected to three R640 servers using ports 1/1/5:1, 1/1/5:2, and 1/1/5:3, 25 GbE connections.
While the examples provided in this guide do not use MX5108n switches, they can still be used to configure this scenario.
