PowerEdge MX provided an intelligent and modular framework that enabled data and workload mobility across an infrastructure. As a core critical deployment component, close integration with VMware has provided a proven solution for businesses to extend their IT transformation from an SDDC datacenter model and into a private cloud, which can then help bridge public cloud workloads, all from a single console. VMware enables customers to design using validated components. We deployed vSAN Ready Nodes for both the required management and the workload clusters within a PowerEdge MX deployment in this use case.
VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers can speed your overall IT transformation efforts while also making that process simpler, more agile and efficient, and less costly.
The VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) approach with the Dell PowerEdge MX7000 is available as a Dell Technologies Cloud Validated Design. This validated design and implementation are based on the certified PowerEdge MX vSAN ready node and a VCF-specific deployment guide, which provides you the foundation to customizing your infrastructure for your workloads.
The Dell Technologies Cloud Validated Design with PowerEdge MX provides additional benefits: Cloud best-in-breed performance and scale using software-defined composability, enabled by PowerEdge MX servers and OpenManage Enterprise-Modular Edition with full-stack VCF automation and lifecycle management. Dell EMC PowerEdge MX converged platform supports modern Intel Xeon Scalable processors ideal for machine learning activities using Intel’s free Data Analytics Acceleration Library (Intel DAAL). Intel Xeon processors' capabilities are not enough - Dell EMC PowerEdge MX converged platform could be easily extended with GPU units for computation-intensive workloads.
In each of these compute nodes, we utilized the Intel Data Analytics Acceleration Library (Intel DAAL). This library of Intel Architecture optimized building blocks covering all data analytics stages: data acquisition from a data source, preprocessing, transformation, data mining, modeling, validation, and decision making. To achieve the best performance on a range of Intel processors, Intel DAAL uses optimized algorithms from the Intel Math Kernel Library and Intel Integrated Performance Primitives.
Intel DAAL supports the end-to-end analytics concept when some of the data analytics stages are performed on the edge devices (close to where the data is generated and where it is finally consumed). Specifically, Intel DAAL Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are agnostic about particular cross-device communication technology and can be used within different end-to-end analytics frameworks.
