SPEC defines SPECviewperf® 13 as the “worldwide standard for measuring graphics performance based on professional applications” [4]. Each of the nine SPECviewperf workloads is called a viewset, which “represent graphics content and behavior from actual applications” [4]. Each viewset performs different tasks. For example, one viewset is aligned to the professional energy industry and simulates 3D seismic data visualization.
Another viewset targets the medical industry and renders images similar to a CT or MRI scan. The SPEC website and the Appendix of this paper provide full descriptions of the different viewsets.
Graphics performance is reported as a composite score per viewset. The score measures frame rate as a weighted average in frames per second (FPS). See SPECviewperf 13 Results for more details on how a composite score is calculated.
