The Grid Dynamics team compared how T550 and T640 server models process video streams and handle different amounts of consumers: performing simultaneous operations on these streams. We simulated streams coming from a range of CCTV cameras and compared the metrics:
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 15.3% less CPU than T640.
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 49.1% less RAM than T640.
Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 11.5% less GPU than T640 at peak loads.
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 does I/O write 18.0% faster than T640.
For the second use case, we compared the performance of servers in processing video streams from CCTV cameras. The test started at 1 stream and came up to 95 streams at the same time:
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 44.2% less CPU than T640.
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 49.1% less RAM than T640.
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 does I/O write 26.3% faster than T640.
On average, Dell EMC PowerEdge T550 uses 46.5% less RAM than T640.
2. Defining homography to map the image from a camera on the store’s layout.
3. Requesting all coordinates for a time range and projecting them on the layout.
4. Plotting heatmap using scatter density plot of requested coordinates, then aligning and mapping it on the store layout.
