vSphere 8 Update 1 enhances security by bringing new features to security and compliance, such as:
- Modern cloud-based identity management and multifactor authentication support for vCenter, with Okta.
- Hosts enabled with TPM 2.0 go through a secure boot and attestation process, which verifies the configuration of the host. This is a powerful way to detect malware and other misconfigurations.
- VMware vSphere Fault Tolerance profiles continuous availability for applications (up to four virtual CPUs) by creating a live shadow of the primary virtual machine. Virtual TPMs are a key component for guest OSes nowadays, and enable features such as Microsoft Device Guard, Credential Guard, Virtualization-Based Security, Secure Boot & OS attestation, and more. vSphere 8 Update 1 supports VMs with virtual TPMs to be replicated and protected.
