Although Intel does allow for DIMM mixing, Dell Technologies does not. Systems should be populated with identical DIMMs used across all DIMM slots. They must have the same rank, capacity, DIMM type, and speed. This guarantees optimal performance. This principle applies to the processors as well; multi-socket Intel systems should be populated with identical CPUs.
