The configuration and behavior of recovery site gold copy pairs is more straightforward than protected site gold copies. Many customers simply transpose the <CopyInfo> block from the test failover file into the gold copy file as in Figure 97, replacing the blue box on the right with the yellow box on the left. Note that because the file tag is different in each file, <TestFailoverInfo> versus <RecoverySiteGoldCopyInfo>, one cannot simply rename the EmcSrdfSraTestFailoverConfig.xml file. Only the <CopyInfo> may be copied. Even if <AutoTargetDevice> is in use, the SRA updates the failover file.
When using the <FailoverWithTargetlessGoldCopy> option, if the user wishes to create targetless snapshots on the recovery site but not the protection site, it is necessary to configure a recovery site gold copy XML file. The XML file would be similar in format to Figure 97, except the <Target> device field would be left blank for all R2 sources as shown in Figure 98.

Note: If the recovery gold copy XML file is configured, the SRDF SRA will not automatically create a targetless snapshot on the protection site. If a gold copy is desired on the protection site, a protection gold copy XML must be configured in addition to the recovery gold copy XML, or simply unconfigure both files.
