Dell supports in-band and outofband systems management support for the server sleds that come with PowerEdge XR4000z chassis. XR4510c server sleds support iDRAC for out of band systems management. For the XR4000w nano sled, because there is no BMC/iDRAC, Dell provides dedicated software utilities to enable systems management support.
XR4510c iDRAC provides an additional option under the System tab to list the specifics of the Witness Server. This tab provides basic information about the nano node connected to the XR4000z chassis, such as the OS IP, the MAC address of the NIC, the Service tag, the Power Status, and so on. It also provides a power management option for the nano node.
To get details such as the IP address, you must install an in-band software stack on VMware ESXi on the nano node. The systems management agent supported on the nano node is called DOSA-w (Dell Operating System Agent for Witness sled). For details, see Chapter 8 of the XR4000w installation manual, and the associated user manual.
