The Dell PowerEdge CSP Edition servers are the high-end CSP offerings based on Intel’s Birch Stream - SP architecture. These are targeted at fulfilling solutions such as: Max capacity and performance targeting sophisticated Tier2 CSPs and Hyperscalers, thermally challenged or eco-focused data centers that have moved to liquid cooling, and Mainstream-CSP SmartNIC and Accelerator offload capability. These CSP platforms will offer unique cold-aisle front nodes not offered on standard PowerEdge. These nodes will support full-height PCIe cards, OCP NICs, BOSS, and front serial/LAN for iDRAC management. The R670 is offered in a 1U form factor, and the R770 in a 2U form. The design shall adopt the new OCP DC-MHS v1.0 standards including:
These are general purpose servers, with many workload and customer use cases such as HCI Virtualization, VDI, SDS, Database/Analytics, Unstructured Analytics, AI/Machine Learning, NFV workloads. They are intended to share similar configuration capabilities, and Dell specific features from a customer standpoint.
