The R760 with 5th Generation Intel Xeon processors were capable of hosting a maximum of 48 GPU-enabled VMs while maintaining an EUX rating above 7.5 (see Table 5). During the first scenario with GPU-only workloads, when the VMs were enabled with GPU, the frames per second improved by 70% as the utilization was offloaded to the GPU, reducing the CPU utilization by 55%.
GPU Workload | #VMs | Horizon VDI (VSIMax) | EUX Rating | Frames per Second |
GPU enabled VM | 48 | 48 | 8.3 | 51 |
CPU only VM | 48 | 48 | 8.5 | 30 |
Note: For more information about EUX scores, see Login Enterprise EUX Score - Login VSI.
The results are shown here in graphical format.
During the second test scenario with mixed workloads, there was a full 100% saturation achieved with 170 VMs running both GPU workloads and knowledge worker apps in parallel. 48 VMs were running the GPU apps and another 122 VMs were running the knowledge worker apps. When these VMs were enabled with GPU, the frames per second improved by 123% as compared to the CPU only VMs.
