LoginVSI Enterprise was chosen as the benchmark tool for all tests. The advantages of this platform include:
All testing was aimed at determining the frames per second (FPS) delivered by the GPU-enabled VMs, versus the drops in frames per second without using the GPU. The maximum number of GPU Virtual Functions (VFs) supported with 4 Flex GPU cards, with 12 users per card, is 48. During the tests, power usage of the server was monitored and then used to calculate the Watts/VDI session. Each GPU-enabled VM was configured with 2 x virtual CPU and 8GB memory. Each Knowledge worker VM was configured with 2X virtual CPU and 4GB memory.
The testing was done using two workload scenarios:
The Dell PowerEdge R760 is the 2U, 2 socket server that enables faster time to value with peak compute performance, through optimum configurations. It is powered by up to 2 x 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 64 cores per processor. It can support up to 2 x 350 W DW and 6 x 75 W SW.
