The leaf switches must establish a connection to the spine switches before BGP updates can be exchanged. Verify that peering is successful and BGP routing has been established.
- Run the show ip bgp summary command to display information about the BGP and TCP connections to neighbors. In Figure 20, all three BGP sessions for each leaf switch are shown. The last session, 192.168.3.1, is the iBGP session between the leaf pairs if there is a leaf to spine layer failure.

- Run the show ip route bgp command to verify that all routes using BGP are being received. The command also confirms that the multiple gateway entries show the multiple routes to the BGP learned networks. Figure 21 shows two different routes to the remote loopback addresses for 10.0.2.3/32 and 10.2.2.3/32.
