In this example, three VxRail nodes are connected to a pair of Leaf switches with SmartFabric Services (SFS) enabled. Leaf1A and Leaf1B connect with a VLT port channel using a Layer 2 (L2) uplink to a switch pair named External-A and External-B. A DNS/NTP server/remote deployment workstation also connects to the external switches with a VLT port channel.

Note: The DNS/NTP server/remote deployment workstation can be one system as shown or three separate systems. It does not have to connect in this manner as long as it can reach the External Management network, 172.18.11.0/24 in this example.
For remote deployment, the VxRail Manager VM is placed on the External Management VLAN and assigned an IP address of 172.18.11.72/24.
All ports that are shown on the four switches in the previous figure are tagged in the External Management VLAN, 1811.
