This solution encompasses a fully functional PowerFlex system that is engineered for increased resilience and ability to scale out across compute and storage dimensions. At a minimum, to deploy Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) on-premises three controller nodes for running the PowerFlex management stack and four PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes running VMware ESXi are required. For information about the Google Anthos supported ESXi version, see Google Anthos Version history.
Anthos on-premises is hybrid cloud software that brings Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to on-premises data centers. With Anthos clusters on VMware, you can create, manage, and upgrade Kubernetes clusters in your on-premises vSphere environment.
When you install Anthos clusters in the vSphere environment, you create:
- An admin workstation VM
- An admin-cluster
- One or more user clusters
The admin-cluster runs the Anthos on-premises infrastructure, and the user-clusters run workloads.
