This Reference Architecture implements at a nine separate networks through Layer-2 VLANs. Some of the following networks can be combined into a single subnet based on end-user requirements:
VLAN |
Description |
Switch allocation |
OOB Management |
Used for the iDRAC network. |
Management |
OAM (operation, administration, management) |
Used for cluster access, provisioning, monitoring, and management. |
Management |
Internal |
Used for internal endpoints and communications between most of the services. |
Data |
External |
Used for providing outbound access for tenant networks. |
Data |
Public |
Used for public service endpoints, for example, using the OpenStack CLI and OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon UI). |
Data |
Overlay |
Used mostly for guest compute traffic between tenants and between tenants and OpenStack services |
Data |
Storage (access) |
Used by clients of the Ceph/Swift storage backend to consume block and object storage contents. |
Data |
Storage (replication) |
Used for replicating persistent storage data between |
