The term air gap implies physical isolation from an unsecure system or network. Logical air gap describes a physical connection but logical isolation from the network. The logical air gap provides another layer of defense by reducing the solutions overall attack surface.
Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery provides a logical air gap feature to keep the PowerProtect Cyber Recovery Vault disconnected from the production network. The PowerProtect Cyber Recovery Vault is disconnected from the production network and is only connected when Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery triggers replication through short, policy-driven intervals. A pre-configured port in the vault firewall is enabled only for data ingestion and is disabled once the replication is completed. This ensures that the Cyber Recovery Vault is isolated from the production network.
