The amount of available storage capacity in the cluster does have an impact on its performance. Generally, it is considered ideal to keep the cluster utilization at 80% or less of total capacity for the entire cluster. This utilization guideline also applies to each node pool in cases where your cluster consists of more than one type of node. At 85% utilization, performance may start to degrade which can lead to higher protocol latency and longer run times for cluster maintenance operations. Once you reach 90% or higher utilization, the likelihood of a degradation of performance is almost certain and steps should be taken immediately to remedy the situation.
