Home > Data Protection > PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance > White Papers > PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance Integration With PowerProtect Cyber Recovery > Recovery to a PPDM in the vault
This option allows you to use a DM5500 Copy and recover from it to a PPDM server running inside the vault.
The PPDM server must be deployed ahead of time, using the same version and build number that matches the production DM5500. (Also, the version should be 19.16 or later and its default passwords must be unchanged.)
After the initial OVA deployment, the PPDM should be at the state where you are asked to select between a New Install and a Restore Backup.
On the Cyber Recovery Assets page, add the vCenter server that runs the PPDM and the PPDM server.
On the Recovery page, select the Copy you want to recover and then click the Application button.
Select the PPDM asset, click Apply.
Cyber recovery automates the recovery and creates Storage Units on the vault DD, including DDboost users that match the source user profiles. It then runs several API calls to restore the data and update the storage to the vault DD. Finally, it changes the passwords to the production passwords from the lockbox backup.
After the recovery, you can launch the recovered PPDM using a web browser. Using the default credentials of the admin user, the password would be set to Abcd!234. After that you can add the vault vCenter server and run recoveries to validate and access data in the vault.
