A VxRail stretched cluster spans remote sites to enable protection from a single site failure and requires a witness as a cluster quorum.
Both a VxRail managed vCenter Server and a customer-managed vCenter Server are supported. If possible, a customer-managed vCenter Server is preferred. A customer-managed vCenter Server remains available in the event of any failure to the cluster. Certain networking failures, such as the interswitch links, can disable virtual machines under certain affinity rule definitions. Those disruptions can affect troubleshooting efforts.
Note: Customers are responsible for shutting down the customer-managed vCenter Server instance in the event of a VxRail driven cluster shutdown.
