  • A dynamic cluster can also use storage resources from an external storage array over a Fibre Channel network or an IP network.

    In these use cases, the cluster can consist of two or more nodes, and only a customer-managed vCenter Server is supported for VxRail versions earlier than 7.0.400.

    With VxRail versions 7.0.400 and later, customers can deploy VxRail managed vCenter Server for Fibre Channel connected storage arrays. In this case, the VxRail Manager provides LCM on the vCenter only if the customer has installed a valid vCenter license.

    If the vCenter evaluation license expires, the following events occur:

    • VxRail Manager stops performing LCM on the vCenter.
    • The Managed hosts become disconnected from the vCenter inventory​.
    • The ESXI hosts and virtual machine continue to run.
    • A number of operations stop working.​
