A switch fabric enabled with SFS can start with just a pair of leaf switches. Multiple VxRail clusters can be deployed on a pair of leaf switches, depending on the size of the clusters and the number of open switch data ports. The leaf switch pair will interconnect with a pair of links to form a VLT. The best practice is for each leaf switch to have a minimum of two connections to the redundant upstream network.
For the Layer 2 connectivity option, static LAG or LACP is required on the receiving ports on the upstream switches from the SmartFabric-enabled switches. If Layer 3 using BGP is selected, a peer network will be established with receiving ports on the upstream switches, and eBGP must be configured on the upstream network.
