The VxRail management components and the VxRail nodes are specific guidelines for network properties:
- The VxRail management components and the VxRail nodes are connected to the VxRail External Management Network at the time of VxRail cluster build.
- The VxRail External Management Network must be able to connect to required data center services (DNS, NTP, etc.)
- Each VxRail management component and the VxRail node in the VxRail cluster must have an assigned IP address and hostname.
- The IP address scheme must be a public IP address range that can pass through the SmartFabric network uplinks to the upstream network.
- The IP address VxRail management components and the VxRail nodes must be fixed (no DHCP).
- The IP addresses assigned to the VxRail management components and the VxRail nodes cannot be in use.
- The IP addresses assigned to the VxRail nodes must be contiguous.
- The IP address range assigned must all be in the same subnet.
The ‘VxRail Management Network Properties’ table in Appendix B: VxRail cluster network configuration tables shows what must be captured.
