A SmartFabric network supporting VxRail will support Layer 2 upstream connectivity from the leaf switch layer. The master switch user interface or OMNI plug-in can configure either a static or dynamic (LACP) port channel on the selected leaf switch ports.

Networks created on the SmartFabric switch fabric for VxRail are represented as virtual networks, and backed by VLANs. The numerical value used to represent a virtual network in the SmartFabric network is the same as the numerical value used to represent a VLAN within the VxRail cluster, and is the same as the numerical value passed upstream in a Layer 2 uplink.
To integrate the upstream network with the SmartFabric network to support Layer 2 connectivity, the following tasks need to be performed:
After cluster initial build is complete and operational, VxRail integration with the SmartFabric network includes support for the automated creation of new virtual networks on the switch fabric driven by updates made to the virtual distributed switches within the VxRail cluster. For instance, if a new port group for a new guest network is created on the VxRail virtual distributed switch, the new VLAN setting on that portgroup is captured and applied to the switch fabric as a virtual network. The switch fabric can be directed to automatically add these virtual networks to the port channel. In this event, these same VLAN values must be configured on the upstream network switches and added to the port channels.
