VMware vSphere 7.0 virtual machines (VMs) were used to virtualize Oracle, ONDB, Hadoop, and Microsoft SQL Server services. Virtualization accelerated deployment of the Oracle Big Data SQL and other applications by enabling the engineers to create templates and use an incremental configuration strategy. For example, after the initial installation of Oracle and the other applications were completed, each application was saved as a template. These templates enabled the engineering team to quickly deploy copies for testing different configurations. Using VMware vSphere accelerated the deployment of the data virtualization ecosystem and enabled the team to optimize the platform.
