PowerFlex CSI Installation steps

  • The following steps describe the installation of CSI driver using helm.  

    1. Download the installation source files from GitHub: 

    $ git clone https://github.com/dell/csi-powerflex

    1. Create the namespace called vxflexos.
    2. Collect information from the PowerFlex SDC by running the get_vxflexos_info.sh script located in the script’s directory. Refer these values to edit config.yaml file for driver configuration. This file contains information like the PowerFlex system IP details and credentials. 
    3. Copy and edit the csi-vxflexos/values.yaml as myvalues.yaml and set the parameters like file system types, volume name prefix, and controller count for the installation.
    4. Run the sh.csi-install.sh command to proceed with the installation: 

    $ sh csi-install.sh --namespace vxflexos --values myvalues.yaml

    1. Check the vxflexos namespace for running pods to verify it is deployed correctly:

     

      7.    For snapshots expansion features to work, Install the Volume snapshot CRD’s from the external-snapshotter project on GitHub. For more information about the manifests, see GitHub.

      8.    After the CSI installation is complete, all the worker nodes have the SDC component autoinstalled by CSI using init container and in PowerFlex GUI all the SDC shows up as connected.
