At this point, all the necessary network and AMP Central configuration is completed to ensure successful discovery of the PowerStore X appliances. Perform the following steps from the AMP Central Element Manager VM when the PowerStore X appliances are physically connected to the VxBlock ToR switches or Vscale Leaf switches.
PowerStore X appliances located in a remote office require a local workstation or VM to perform the appliance discovery and configuration. See the Dell PowerStore Networking Guide for PowerStore X Models on Dell.com/powerstoredocs, Appendix A – Discovery with a Remote Connection to properly configure the local workstation or VM.
Optional: Download and run the Network Validation Tool (NVT) for PowerStore to validate that the networks are correctly configured. The NVT can be downloaded from Dell Central Solutions at https://central.dell.com/solutions/NVT-PowerStore.
Note: Use of the Network Validation Tool for PowerStore on VxBlock Systems or Vscale Architecture may result in a warning that CDP and LLDP are disabled. LLDP is disabled on VxBlock Systems and Vscale Architecture where security hardening is required.
Use the PowerStore Discovery Utility to scan for the PowerStore X appliance(s) and to perform the initial configuration of the cluster. Alternatively, you can remotely access the PowerStore static IP address. Open a web browser and enter any one of the PowerStore static IP addresses (http://169.254.0.10-.50) to discover the PowerStore X appliance(s) and to perform the initial configuration of the cluster.
Log in to PowerStore Manager and begin the initial configuration process using the following default credentials:
Optimization
During initial configuration, there is an option to build the PowerStore X appliance for optimization. This adds a second set of iSCSI targets on the storage network on the ESXi hosts in PowerStore 3000X through 9000X. If optimization is enabled, log in to the PowerStore Manager to set the PowerStore X cluster MTU to 9000. This applies to all PowerStore X models.
Ensure that the physical network ports on the ToR/leaf switches that are facing the PowerStore X appliances are configured with MTU 9216.
