This section documents information regarding PowerStore X VMware ESXi configuration.
After successful creation of the PowerStore X cluster, add the correct DNS domain to the default TCP/IP stack configuration on each of the PowerStore X ESXi hosts.
The vCenter datacenter and VMware vSphere cluster for PowerStore X are created as part of the Initial Configuration Wizard (ICW). The new vCenter datacenter and ESXi cluster are created in the VxBlock or Vscale production workload vCenter. For information about planning and configuring PowerStore X VMware vSphere clusters, see the Dell PowerStore Networking Guide for PowerStore X and Dell PowerStore Virtualization Infrastructure Guide.
The PowerStore AppsON is now ready for database and/or application installation on the PowerStore X ESXi cluster.
The following figure shows the new PowerStore X vCenter datacenter (AE-PSTX-CL1-DC) and VMware vSphere cluster (AE-PSTX-CL1) created in a VxBlock or Vscale production workload vCenter server:
This section documents ESXi configuration settings for PowerStore X that are different from VxBlock Systems and Vscale Architecture settings. This is for awareness of the differences only. No action is needed to update these.
VMware ESXi feature | PowerStore X recommended value | VxBlock/Vscale recommended value |
Enhanced vMotion Compatibility (EVC) | Disabled | Enabled |
Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) policy | Partially automated Note: If something different is selected, PowerStore reverts it to Partially automated | Fully automated |
vSphere HA | Enabled | Enabled |
vSphere HA Admission Control | Disabled Note: vSphere does not differentiate between PowerStoreOS VMs and user-created VMs. If HA Admission Control is enabled, vSphere reserves resources for the PowerStoreOS VMs, and user VMs cannot be failed over. Enabling HA Admission Control might prevent the PowerStoreOS VMs from powering on. | Enabled |
