The networks defined in PowerFlex Manager are used in templates to specify the networks or VLANs that are configured on nodes and switches for services.
The following table outlines the purpose of each network:
Table 30. Network purpose
Network | Purpose |
General purpose LAN | Optional; used to access network resources for basic networking activities. |
Hypervisor management | Used to identify the management network for a hypervisor or operating system deployed on a node. |
Hypervisor migration | Used to manage the network that you want to use for live migration. Live migration allows you to move running VMs from one node of the failover cluster to a different node in the same cluster. |
Operating system installation | Allows static or DHCP network for operating system imaging on nodes. |
Hardware management | Used for OOB management of hardware infrastructure. |
PowerFlex data | Used for traffic between PowerFlex data clients (SDC) and data servers (SDS). Used for all node types except for dedicated storage-only nodes. |
PowerFlex data (SDC traffic only) | Used for traffic between SDC and SDS and between SDS and SDS. Used for cloning a dedicated storage template. |
PowerFlex data (SDS traffic only) | Used for traffic between SDS and SDS. Used for cloning a dedicated storage template. |
PowerFlex management | Used for PowerFlex management traffic. |
PowerFlex replication | Used for PowerFlex replication traffic. |
