A NAS server is a file server that supports NFSv3, NFSv4, or both protocols to share file systems with the SAP HANA clients. NAS also catalogs, organizes, and optimizes read and write operations to the associated file systems. To provision the file storage to the SAP HANA clients, NAS severs must be running on the PowerFlex system. NAS servers must be created and running before the file system is created.
The following table describes the NAS server options in PowerFlex Manager:
Option | Description |
Details | NAS server name and network details |
Sharing protocol | Type of protocol:
DNS is required for:
|
User mapping | When NAS server is configured for both the SMB and NFS protocol, it is necessary to configure the user mapping and join the NAS server with an AD domain. |
Note: For more information, see Dell PowerFlex 4.0.x Administration Guide – NAS Server Sharing Protocols.
To create a NAS server in PowerFlex Manager:
Dell Technologies recommends creating a NAS server for the SAP HANA workload on each file node controller for HA and workload balancing.
To add the production and backup file interfaces to the NAS server and create routes to external services:
Note: The [nas server name] is the NAS server that you created using PowerFlex Manager.
PowerFlex assigns a preferred interface by default, but you can set which interface to use first for production and backup, and IPv4, and IPv6.
