Once the generic application files are backed up in active tier, perform the following steps to move the generic application backup files to the Cloud Tier configured using Amazon S3:
- To migrate the generic application backup files to the Cloud Tier, we need to configure a file migration policy for the DD storage file system called Mtree. Run the following commands to configure the age-threshold policy and verify the policy settings:
- Run the following command to Initiate the migration of the generic application backup files to the Cloud Tier:
- Run the following command to check the data movement progress:
- Once the data movement of all the generic application backup files to the Cloud Tier is complete, run the following command to check the status of data movement:
- Run the following command to verify that each generic application backup file location has moved to the Cloud Tier:
- The following figure from the DD GUI shows that the Cloud Tier space usage, deduplication, and compression information after the generic application backup files have been moved to the Cloud Tier.
