Logical architecture

  • VxRail dynamic nodes are diskless compute-only nodes that form a vSphere cluster but do not require a vSAN license. Because the VxRail dynamic nodes do not provide storage, all storage comes from the PowerFlex cluster as shown below:

    In this solution, a VxRail dynamic nodes (CO nodes) cluster is using PowerFlex storage to host workload VMs.

    Notes:

    • Ensure that all hosts have common shared datastores.
    • Users can configure multiple shared datastores from PowerFlex volume depending on the demands of application VMs, however the “/primary-storage” API only takes one datastore name to host the VxRail system VMs.
