This section provides details on the topology used in the validation of the deployment for VMware Cloud Foundation in this guide.
Dell PowerEdge MX5016s storage sleds are internally cabled and the PowerEdge MX5000s SAS IOM has no impact on external cabling.
Cabling for a dual Dell PowerEdge MX7000 enclosure configuration using Dell MX9116n Fabric Switching Engines and MX7116n Fabric Expander Modules
The following figures show the external cabling for a multiple Dell PowerEdge MX7000 enclosure configuration when the Dell MX9116n Fabric Switching Engines (FSE) and MX7116n Fabric Expansion Modules (FEM) are used. The Customer Network Link Aggregation is shown as an example. The upper layer connection is not specified, except that it must use an LACP-enabled link aggregation group.
The following diagram shows the management module cabling for a dual chassis deployment. The MX7000 chassis are daisy-chained, and the management modules are pictured without the full chassis.
The following diagram shows the cabling for a dual chassis deployment with uplinks to a customer network leaf switch pair.
Note: The customer network is represented above by two Dell PowerSwitch S5232F-ON switches. The leaf pair shown can be substituted for any standard Ethernet switch pair.
