Assigning an ESXi server is needed if the existing external network does not have a vCenter appliance that can access the SFS network. A vCenter appliance is needed to install and access the OMNI VM appliance. If an existing vCenter is available, then this step is not needed and users can proceed to virtual Distributed Switch (vDS).
Installation and configuration of vSphere is beyond the scope of this documentation. Refer to VMware vSphere Documentation. However, all the values entered in this example can be found in the tables below.
Table 6. ESXi server one parameters
ESXi01 IP address
In L2 example – 172.18.11.80
In L3 example – 172.17.11.80
Once the first ESXi host has been configured, verify the connectivity using the ESXi host Direct Console User Interface (DCUI).

This validates that the ESXi server can reach the DNS server.
Configure ESXi VM_Network to utilize a tagged interface. If the server’s interface to External_Mgmt is untagged, skip to the next section Deploy vCenter.
