Dell EMC SmartFabric Services supports any of the Generation 5 or 6 Isilon nodes currently available.
The Isilon H400 is used to create a storage cluster to support an SMB share in this guide. All Isilon products use the OneFS software, and deployments are similar. The Dell EMC Isilon H400 is a 4-RU, scale-out NAS system.
The H400 Isilon is Generation 6 hardware and is far more advanced and robust than previous Isilon generations. It is an entirely new architecture with denser nodes and many hardware and software improvements. Isilon Gen 6 drastically reduces the physical footprint, and offers improved scalability, compute power, software optimization, and protection against hardware failures.
Generation 6 hardware supports Ethernet back-end networks through a pair of dedicated Dell EMC PowerSwitch S4100 or Z9100 series switches.
