Domino Data Science Platform requires two classes of storage:
- Fast block storage—Required to support ephemeral volumes that are attached to user workspace sessions and other executions on the compute grid. Fast block storage is also used for application object data. This storage class must be able to provision volumes of at least 100 GB that are accessible from any host.
- Long-term shared storage—Domino Data Science Platform needs a separate storage class for long-term storage for:
- Project data that is uploaded or created by users.
- Domino Datasets: Datasets are the largest consumer of storage space. It might not be practical to store the datasets on Domino Data Science Platform. Domino workspace sessions can access data that is stored in NFS shares or HDFS and the project files and datasets that are automatically attached.
- Docker images.
- Domino backups.
Dell EMC Isilon Scale-Out NAS and NFS Storage Solutions (NSS) support these storage classes.
Server storage sizing is flexible and only presents minimum requirements. Platform nodes require at least 128 GB of storage on the boot disk. Nodes that are members of the compute grid require 400 GB of storage.
