Prerequisites

  • To use snapshots for granular database recovery, you must install each database in its own set of Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) disk groups.

    The test scenarios used the following disk groups:

    • DATA – All database and temporary files
    • REDO – All online Redo logs
    • FRA – Archived logs

    The following figures show possible ASM-disk-group-to-PowerFlex-device mappings for physical and virtualized environments.

    Note: An ASM disk group can map to multiple physical devices at the storage layer, but the ASM disk groups should only contain a single database to allow granular recovery.
