  • The system architecture for the Oracle snapshot use cases for this white paper consists of the following:

    • Four Compute-Only (CO) PowerFlex appliance nodes (based on Dell EMC PowerEdge R640 servers configured with 2 Intel 6244 8-core 3.6 Ghz CPUs, 1.5 TB memory and four 25 Gb NIC ports)
    • Six Storage-Only (SO) PowerFlex appliance nodes (based on Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd servers configured with two Intel 5218R 20-core 2.1 Ghz CPUs, 96 GB memory, 24 x 3.84 TB solid-state drives (SSDs) and four 25 Gb NIC ports)
    • Two Dell EMC PowerSwitch S5248F-ON servers
    • Dell EMC PowerFlex software Version 3.5.1000

    All nodes are connected to the access or Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches through 25 GbE networks.

    PowerFlex CO nodes allow for optimized CPU licensing for Oracle. The nodes can be configured with the best CPU to match the customer’s Oracle licensing requirements.

    The following figure contains an overview of the PowerFlex appliance configuration, but any configuration that follows the PowerFlex minimum configuration rules can use the snapshot capabilities described in this white paper.
