This section covers the steps to upgrade SmartFabric OS10 running on the SmartFabric leaf and spine switches using OMNI.
Note: Before proceeding, ensure the version of SmartFabric OS10 you are upgrading to is listed in the Dell EMC VxRail Support Matrix (account required).
- Download the new version of SmartFabric OS10. SmartFabric OS10 is available on Dell Digital Locker (account required).
- In the vSphere Client, select Menu > OpenManage Network Integration.
- Dell recommends placing OMNI in maintenance mode before upgrading. To put OMNI in maintenance mode, do the following:
- In the OMNI user interface, select Home in the left pane. In the right pane, select the Support tab.
- Under OMNI Maintenance Mode, select ENABLE MAINTENANCE MODE.
- In the confirmation dialog box, select ENABLE MAINTENANCE MODE.
- A success message displays, as shown in Figure 120.

- In the left pane, select the Service Instance. In the right pane under Fabric Actions, select Upgrade OS, as shown in Figure 121.

- Click UPLOAD > Choose File and select the SmartFabric OS10 .bin file.

- Click the UPLOAD button.
- When the upload is complete, the Success message displays.

- Click the radio button next to the .bin file and click UPGRADE FABRIC.
- When the confirmation dialog box appears, click UPGRADE to start the upgrade process.

- A Success message displays indicating the upgrade has started, as shown in Figure 125.

Note: Switches are upgraded one at a time. The process may take about 15 minutes per switch to complete.
- You can monitor the progress within OMNI on the Service Instance > Summary tab.
- Under Fabric Nodes, expand Fabric ID:100 (Fabric_Name) to view the spine switches.
- Under Rack, expand each rack to view the leaf switches.
The current OS version for each switch is displayed, as shown in Figure 126.
- Click the icon to refresh the page as needed. The versions change as the switches are upgraded.

- After all switches in the SmartFabric are upgraded, move OMNI out of maintenance mode by performing the following steps:
- In the OMNI user interface, select Home in the left pane. In the right pane, select the Support tab.
- Under OMNI Maintenance Mode, select DISABLE MAINTENANCE MODE.
- In the confirmation dialog box, select DISABLE MAINTENANCE MODE.
- A Success message displays, as shown in Figure 127.
