This white paper specifically addresses the scenario of scale units in Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack Hub (Dell EMC Integrated System) that are running releases prior to 1906, which pose a specific challenge to updating to current versions.
Note: All references to release dates refer to Dell EMC releases, unless otherwise indicated.
Accordingly, we recommend that you apply the updates in the following sequence if a scale unit is running releases prior to 1906:
Note: Scale units running releases 1906 or earlier are running on the HLH with Windows Server 2016. Later Azure Stack Hub builds run Windows Server 2019 on the HLH. If a situation arises that requires a rebuild of the HLH to Windows Server 2016, see Manually Updating HLH on Windows Server 2016 through Redeployment. To upgrade the HLH to Windows Server 2019, refer to the HLH Migration from Windows Server 2016 to 2019 for Dell EMC Integrated System for Microsoft Azure Stack Hub Installation Guide.
The recommendations and guidelines in this guide are based on industry best practices, Azure Stack Hub architecture requirements, and Dell Technologies lab testing. If you do not follow the recommendations and guidelines, the functionality and management of the solution might not work as designed or expected. Problem resolution might be limited, delayed, or not viable.
