The process for updating an HLH deployment is very similar to the standard HLH deployment. The difference is that you must first mount the Windows Server 2016 ISO, which is located in the D:\Tools\HLHISO directory. You can use either the iDRAC console or a bootable USB flash drive. If you use the iDRAC console, you can mount the ISO from a Privileged Access Workstation (PAW) or Jumpbox, a USB flash drive on the server, or a network share accessible from the iDRAC.
Redeploying an HLH from scratch is not typical. Such a redeployment is normally necessary when the HLH and the associated OpenManage Enterprise and OpenManage Network Manager servers become corrupted or have not been patched for longer than six months. Before you rebuild the HLH using the ISO, you must first decide if you are going to keep the existing data drive. If you are going to keep the existing data drive, we recommend that you first unencrypt both the C: and D: drives. The commands to disable BitLocker Encryption of all volumes, in an administrative command prompt, are:
BitLocker begins decrypting data on the volumes. It can take up to 90 minutes to decrypt the two volumes.
If you decide to delete the data drive, back up the contents of D:\Tools\CustomerBackup folder and subfolders to an external device.
